The data services team processes all the data Righmove has been collecting for over 20 years and helping a variety of users make informed decisions about the Real Estate market. Working as the Lead UXD for the data services team, I helped shaped the vision of a few of their products products. One of the main products was the Market Intelligence Centre

Market Intelligence Centre

The Market Intelligence Center or MIC is a dashboard application that helps a variety of users make informed decisions about how the real estate market in the UK is evolving. The picture on the right is how the tool used to look like when I took over the design function.

Discovery

The market intelligence center was at it’s infancy when I took over the project as a Product Designer. The main problem we wanted to solve was “How do we create a cohesive experience for Analysts to help them get hold of specific market data easily?”

I started by organising a series of remote workshops with the team comprised of Backend and Frontend engineers, testers and a PM to plan an approach in solving this problem.

Feature prioritisation

The team had a lot of ideas on what we can improve and great scope for the project. We needed however a prioritisationon the features we wanted to implement. I ran a feature prioritisation workshop with key stakeholders to get a priority on the order of features we needed to implement. In the meantime, I usability tested the current product with the users we had and got input to that featureprioritisation workshop from a ux perspective.

Implementation

We created a process that we would follow every quarter to get everyone from the team in the loop and touch base with users to undestand if we had made the right decisions from a design perspective.”

I was working closely with developers along the way to understand limitations and make sure that the design vision was implemented.
